The 2026 Student Sports Awards at O'Connell Secondary School was a wonderful celebration of dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and achievement throughout the school year. Students, staff, families, and friends gathered together to recognise the incredible sporting successes and commitment shown by our young athletes across a wide range of sports.
A special word of thanks goes to Irish football legend and past student, Keith Treacy, and teacher Mr. Colm O'Connell for hosting such an inspiring and memorable event. Their encouragement, stories, and support for our students made the evening truly special and highlighted the importance of hard work, resilience, and community spirit in sport.
We would also like to sincerely thank all of our teachers, coaches, and staff members who gave so generously of their time throughout the year to support training sessions, matches, and sporting activities. Your commitment continues to create opportunities for our students to grow both on and off the field.
A huge congratulations must go to our Under-15 Football Team, who proudly became Leinster Shield Champions this year after an outstanding campaign. Their determination, teamwork, and never-give-up attitude were a credit to themselves, their families, and the entire school community.
Special thanks and recognition go to Mr. Costello, Mr. Ryan, Ms. Lawlor, and Mr. Fagan for their dedication, encouragement, and leadership throughout the sporting year. Their contribution played a major role in the continued success of sport in O'Connell Secondary School.
